    Nutrition Information

An intense and active sighthound, Rajapaksema takes protein rich food to maintain the lean muscle mass, power and energy. Proteins of high quality such as chicken, lamb, eggs, or fish are obligatory in repairing, developing and maintaining the immune system of the muscle. Long distance running, healthy coat, and healthy cardiovascular and brain are the result of intensive energy brought by balanced fats like omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Complex carbohydrates include brown rice, sweet potatoes, or vegetables and serve to maintain the energy level high, as well as to digest, which is paramount to this active breed. The bone strength, metabolism, and the immunity as a whole require the presence of viruses and minerals. Constant hydration with fresh and clean water is better to keep the organs in good shape. Due to its size, control of the portion, pre-cooked meals are relevant to prevent obesity and issues with the digestive system to ensure that the Rajapalayam is in good weight, energy, and length life.

    Pet Grooming
    Grooming Information

The unusual short coat of the Rajapalayam is very easy to keep and needs little grooming. Sometimes weekly brushing is only necessary to get rid of loose hair, stimulate the skin, and keep the coat healthy and clean. Bath batches are very rare and are generally done when the dog is dirty because bathing the dog too much would leave the skin dry. Nail trimming should also be a regular procedure to avoid discomfort and posture issues, and ear checking should also be done regularly to understand whether dirt or infection is present. Good oral health is supported by dental care, e.g. dental chews or brushing the teeth. All in all, because of its low grooming requirements, the Rajapalayam is good in terms of owners requiring a low-maintenance large breed.
