Back in 2021, Albania Sagarra’s dog, a small Maltipoo, went missing from a Miami area. The family searched everywhere, put up posters, and even offered ₹83,000 (USD 1,000) as a reward. But nothing worked.
Later, a stranger called and said he had seen Sugar get hit by a fast-moving car. He claimed she died on the spot. Believing his words, the family was heartbroken and stopped searching.
Years passed, and they accepted the painful truth—that Sugar was no more.
But just a few days ago, Sagarra received an unexpected phone call from a nearby animal shelter. A dog, looking just like Sugar, had been brought in. When Sagarra saw the dog, she was surprised. It was Sugar—alive.
“I was in disbelief. After four years, I never thought I’d see her again,” Sagarra said, holding back tears.
However, Sugar’s condition is not good. She is very thin, weak, and seriously ill. Vets at the shelter said she has advanced heart and kidney disease. Her health problems are serious, and her time may be limited.
Sagarra now believes someone might have taken Sugar years ago and didn’t care for her properly. The identity of the person who left Sugar at the shelter is still unknown.
“She may not have much time left, but she’ll be with the people who love her the most,” Sagarra said.
The family is now making every moment special for Sugar. She’s back in her real home, receiving love and care in her final days.
