Sudhir Kudalkar is a police officer in Mumbai, working as a Senior Inspector at the MHB Police Station in Borivali West. But more than that, he is a true animal lover. He is known for helping stray animals and speaking up for their rights. While doing his duty as a police officer, he also takes care of injured, sick, and hungry animals on the streets.
During the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, many stray animals were left without food or care. Seeing this, Sudhir started a group called PAL, which means Pure Animal Lovers. What began as a small group of volunteers has now grown into a big team of more than 7,000 members.
This group includes animal feeders, doctors, lawyers, and people who want to help. They all work together to rescue and care for animals.
In just one year, Sudhir and his team rescued more than 700 injured animals and responded to over 1,200 emergency calls. But he does more than rescue—he also takes legal action. When someone harms an animal, he files a police case to make sure justice is done. One such case involved a dog named Brownie, who was beaten by two men. Sudhir made sure they were punished.
PAL also has a team of lawyers who work for free to fight cases of animal cruelty. People trust Sudhir because he keeps everything clear and honest. If someone donates money for animal treatment, the bills and updates are shared in the group, so everyone knows how the money is used.
Sudhir has received many awards for his work, including from the Governor of Maharashtra and animal welfare groups like PETA. He is also popular on Instagram, where he shares rescue stories and cute videos of animals. His cat named Lola, who lives at the police station, is loved by many.
